Tandragee Ladies Launch Cookery Book

Cookery books produced by golf clubs are to the best of our knowledge uncommon worldwide. Records show the first ladies joined Tandragee Golf Club in 1922 and from then the ladies branch have always put forward volunteers to look after the catering for all Captain’s Day and President’s Day.

One of Ladies Branch committee members, Vivienne Loney came up with the innovative idea and along with fellow committee member Kathleen Megaw collated recipes contributed by golf members, relatives, friends and some of our local restaurant chefs.

They were ably assisted by Robert Megarity, Past Club President, 2013-2015 who offered his IT and graphic design skills to good effect. We are most grateful to all those who have supported us through this venture and in particular those who placed advertisements and wish them continued success with their businesses in addition to donations.

20161026_191437We felt it appropriate to coincide the launch in support of Northern Ireland Year of Food and Drink 2016 and quite uniquely with Co. Armagh being the Food Heartland to show case the diverse range of local produce (including amongst many the well renowned Armagh Bramley apple with its Protected Geographical Indication (PGI status), culinary talents and mouth watering recipes, not only fit for hungry golfers but for everyone.

20161029_141535This is a unique venture for our golf club which we are immensely proud of whilst at the same time promoting our facilities.  In keeping with the local theme the launch took place with the help of Irish rugby legend Rory Best (see picture) at the Richhill Apple Harvest Fayre, Saturday 29th October, where Cookery Books were available amongst other local produce and crafts for purchase. Our annual soup brunch will take place on Monday 7th November 2016, 12noon-3pm at the Club where not only our cookery book is on sale but you can enjoy a hearty brunch and peruse the many stalls of local produce and craft.

Cookery books are now available for purchase at £8 in the Club premises (main lounge) and other selected outlets.
